What makes Vitra special?

Over the years, Vitra has established itself as a pioneer in the furniture industry, beginning with its iconic fiberglass chairs. The designs of Charles and Ray Eames, created in collaboration with Vitra, have had a significant impact not only on the American market but also on interior design worldwide. The company remains true to its philosophy of creating timeless furniture and not following fleeting trends.


A look into the past

Vitra was founded in 1934 by Willi Fehlbaum, who took over the Graeter shopfitting business in Basel and laid the foundation for the company. After World War II, Fehlbaum relocated production to Weil am Rhein and named the project Vitra. The Vitra Campus in Weil am Rhein became a center for design, production, and art.

Good for the conscience

Vitra implements sustainability not only in furniture production but also in the creation of a positive work environment. The company promotes the well-being of its employees and optimizes their potential through healthy working atmospheres. The production facilities are predominantly powered by green energy, and all furniture meets high environmental standards. Moreover, the company has guaranteed the high recyclability and durability of its furniture through certification since 1997.
